Song Of The Week: All I Ask

When Adele sang her new song at the Grammys last week things didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Technical issues basically muted her for a short period and the performance became a “talker”. Adele wasn’t a happy camper.

A couple of days ago Adele was on Ellen and got the chance to do it right, without any technical iussues. Yay!

All I Ask is off of her latest album and 25 and written by none other than Bruno Mars. A beautifully emotional piece about a relationship on the verge of breakup.

If this is my last night with you
Hold me like I’m more than just a friend
Give me a memory I can use
Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do
It matters how this ends
‘Cause what if I never love again?

Iconic Authors Harper Lee And Umbert Eco Passed Away

Two of literature’s greats have passed away.

American author Harper Lee and Italian author Umberto Eco both died yesterday on the 19th.

Harper Lee was the writer of the Pulitzer Prize winning 60’s novel How To Kill A Mockingbird, dealing with the subjects of rape and racial inequality in the American South. It later became a critically acclaimed film with Gregory Peck.
Harper Lee never published another novel until last year, when the sequel Go Set A Watchman was released.

Writer, philosopher and literary critic Umberto Eco was probably most known for his 1980 best-seller In The Name Of The Rose. The book is a murder mystery taking place in an Italian monastery in the 14th century. It later became a successful film starring Sean Connery and Christian Slater.

Both authors were in their 80’s when they passed away in their respective homes.

Rest In Peace

Prince Protégé Vanity Dead

It’s a sad day in the purple kingdom.

Prince’s old protégé and collaborator Denise Matthews, better known as Vanity, passed away on Monday. The reason was probably kidney failure.

In the early 80’s Vanity became the front figure of Prince’s girl group Vanity 6. Raunchy sex appeal combined with Prince’s Minneapolis sound became their trademark with hits such as Nasty Girl.

After years of singing, acting and an overall excessive lifestyle, Denise Matthews turned to Christianity and concentrated on her faith instead.

She was 57 when she died.

RIP

Now, some fun/good videos from the night:

Song Of The Week: Fantasy

4 February legendary musician Maurice White passed away. He was the founder of Earth, Wind & Fire and created some of the most iconic tunes of the 70’s.

Since yesterday also was Valentine’s Day I figured it would be nice with a classic romantic and spiritual EWF numer this week.

Ladies & Gents, here’s Fantasy:

Come see victory, in the land called fantasy
Loving life, a new decree,
Bring your mind to everlasting liberty

Our minds will explore together, old worlds, we conquer, forever
We then, will expand love together, as one

Rest In Peace Maurice White

Dance 4 The Weekend With Beyoncé Formation

With all the backlash Beyoncé has been getting after her halftime show performance I feel like showcasing even more of Bey this week. Standing up for injustice is supposed to be a good thing.

This time it’s in the form of a dance crew that has their own kick-ass dance routine for Bey’s “controversial” track Formation. You know, Black Lives Matter….

Willdabeast Adams is the choreographer – and willd it is indeed.

These guys have attitude, these guys are fierce. These guys are perfect for the weekend. Be inspired:
