Now, let’s not forget to mention the host of the evening – Chris Rock. He definitely didn’t shy away from being political and adressed the lack of diversity as much as he could. And brilliantly so!

For the rest of the speeches, feel free to surf the Tube.
I’m going to bed. Zzz…

Song Of The Week: Work

It’s not the most original piece of music and nothing groundbreaking. Yet I can’t get Rihanna and Drake’s latest hit Work out of my head. I guess the relaxing groove and repititious “work, work, work, work, work” does that to one.

Hence, it’s my SOTW.

Here’s how Rihanna and Drake performed the song at last week’s BRIT Awards. Steamy twerk included. The song in the very beginning is Consideration, the first track on Rihanna’s album Anti.

It’s Time For Oscar Weekend – New Game Helps Leonardo DiCaprio Win

The biggest, most glamorous and prestigious awards show of all take place on Sunday – the Oscars.

The question a lot of people are asking themselves now is – will Leonardo DiCaprio finally win an Oscar for his role in The Revenant?! Believe it or not, the actor has been nominated but never won one. After the success at this year’s Golden Globes though, things may turn for the better for the poor actor.

But, Leonardo DiCaprio can always need a little help. Hence, there is now a game called Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage, where your job is to get Leo to catch the golden man (the Oscar, that is). Yup, that’s how badly people want the guy to win!

It’s an hilarious old school style game, so why not do your part and help Leo out HERE?!

And remember – if you want to watch movie magic, stiff actors in gorgeous outfits, odd speeches and hilariously controversial jokes from Chris Rock, you can see all that on Sunday!

Prince Takes His Solo Show To California

Prince did earlier this year a couple of solo shows at his studio complex close to Minneapolis. In February he took the show to Australia and New Zealand, got rave reviews, and is now going back to the States for more concerts!

I’m not sure how big the American tour will be, but what I do know is that it kicks off in Oakland, California this Sunday! Two shows will be given at 7 and 10 PM.

Expect a piano, a microphone and a Prince serving up some magic. Tickets have been on sale since Wednesday and not many are left, so hurry up if you want to be there!

Rihanna Gets Real On Anti – Plus She Has A New Video

The anticipation was high when Rihanna last month released her first album in four years.

Anti is raw, dark and gritty, but also playful and exciting. It’s Rihanna’s Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the album that truly showed how good and artsy Kanye West could be. There’s no doubt that Anti is the singer’s most intriguing album to date.

The album is cocky and explicit. The f-word is thrown around like nothing and the lyrics are more of what we are used to hearing from male artists. A good example is Sex With Me, where Ri-Ri is basically bragging about how good she is in bed (“sex with me so amazing”).

But Anti is also soulful and emotional. Close To You and Love On The Brain are two  slower tracks that are unusualy romantic for Rihanna and show off her vocal skills. They still got attitude of course – after all, we are talking about Rihanna.

I guess you have noticed that I’m a fan of Anti. Sure, there are a couple of tracks that aren’t worth mentioning, but all in all it’s a success. Layered, real and fun.

The Guardian wrote that it’s the kind of album you make when you don’t have to worry about sales and that is spot on. That is when artists dare to be creative, try out new sounds and record more interestingly intricate pieces. Ri-Ri has finally done it.

By the way, Rihanna has also just released the steamy video for her first single Work, featuring Drake. We have a new hit.

Demi Lovato Impersonates Christina Aguilera And More

A few days ago singer Demi Lovato was on the Tonight Show and did one of my favourite segments – the Wheel Of Musical Impressions. You know I looove good impressions!

She wasn’t as spot on as, say,  Ariana Grande, but her Christina Aguilera did show that she has stronger pipes than one might have thought. Demi Lovato sure can sing!

Fun Videos From Last Week Starring Sia And JLo

There were a couple of funny videos and tv segments last week that I never got to post, so I’m doing it now.

Let’s start with Sia, who was the latest of James Corden’s carpoolers. Will she show her face? Does she sound great?

No and yes.

Then we have Jennifer Lopez on the Tonight Show. Even though the gorgeous woman is closer to 50 (!!) she did an hilarious impression of your random teenager together with Jimmy Fallon on “Ew!”:

Song Of The Week: All I Ask

When Adele sang her new song at the Grammys last week things didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Technical issues basically muted her for a short period and the performance became a “talker”. Adele wasn’t a happy camper.

A couple of days ago Adele was on Ellen and got the chance to do it right, without any technical iussues. Yay!

All I Ask is off of her latest album and 25 and written by none other than Bruno Mars. A beautifully emotional piece about a relationship on the verge of breakup.

If this is my last night with you
Hold me like I’m more than just a friend
Give me a memory I can use
Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do
It matters how this ends
‘Cause what if I never love again?

New Mean Tweets Music Edition

Ladies and Gents, we have new Mean Tweets!!

Because of the Grammys happening a couple of days ago, Jimmy Kimmel entertained us with some new nasty tweets. Which is always a good thing!

Artists such as Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora got to read all the “fantastic” stuff that is written about them.

Mean and hilarious as always!

Grammys 2016: Winners & Videos

The prestigious Grammy Awards took place last night and honored the best music in the business. Well, that’s obviously a matter of taste, but you know what I mean.

Based on how it went, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, who won his first Grammys ever, were two of those who probably had the most fun.

Here’s the list of winners:

Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars

1989 by Taylor Swift

Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

Meghan Trainor

Don’t Wanna Fight by Alabama Shakes

Bad Blood with Taylor Swift Featuring Kendrick Lamar

To see the rest, visit US Magazine.

Now, on to what happened on stage. Unfortunately there are hardly any good performance videos online yet, but here’s some of what’s to be found:

More videos will be posted when they exist, which should mean later this week! Stevie Wonder, Adele and some more…

Prince Protégé Vanity Dead

It’s a sad day in the purple kingdom.

Prince’s old protégé and collaborator Denise Matthews, better known as Vanity, passed away on Monday. The reason was probably kidney failure.

In the early 80’s Vanity became the front figure of Prince’s girl group Vanity 6. Raunchy sex appeal combined with Prince’s Minneapolis sound became their trademark with hits such as Nasty Girl.

After years of singing, acting and an overall excessive lifestyle, Denise Matthews turned to Christianity and concentrated on her faith instead.

She was 57 when she died.
